No Easy Way to God?

It’s no use, no matter how hard I try I just can’t come up with a way to help you get to know God with no effort at all required by you.  Believe me I’ve tried. I’ve looked at every idea and angle but at the end of it all a point comes when you are just going to have to make an effort yourself.

Click – most readers have now left.  Web writing means pleasing quickly or losing your reader – sorry still no easy way.  But here is the way short and sharp:

Learn to talk to God about anything

Ask for help when needed, share problems or concerns and give thanks for the good stuff. No relationship can develop without communication.  Talking through a middle man won’t do it. You have to start talking to Him direct.       (How to talk to God)

Start learning about God for yourself.

This will happen in three ways:

1. As a result of what happens when you pray.

You will have new experiences as God intervenes in your life that you will be able to think about and learn from them.

2.  As a result of listening to other people’s experiences and viewpoints.

You will be able to sift through what they say and so think about how God operates and what He is like.

3.  By learning about Him from His book - the Bible.

You can buy one written in everyday English from most bookstores and even reading a few verses a day will give you an insight into God’s values and perspective as well as showing  you how he has dealt with people in the past and His promises for you today and for the future.    (How to read a Bible)

Mix with people who believe in Him.

Different people will have different views. You will have to sift through this by checking people’s and church’s views against the Bible which is God’s definitive guidebook.   (How to test what people say against the Bible)

How much time you spend on each aspect will probably be a result of your personality and lifestyle. Some like to sit, read and reflect; others like to go out and meet new people. The big thing is be willing to explore and learn through your life -not just surf and forget.

As for us?  Well we’ll still be here answering your questions (email us at info@positivestuff.org.uk) praying for you (prayer@positivestuff.org.uk) and posting reflections in the hope that it will make you think a little deeper about the only earthly life we have.  We are not here forever – please use your time wisely.

“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”

Hebrews 9:27-28 (NIV)
