Touching Lives

June 24th, 2002

Dear Friends

It hardly seems possible that a month could pass so seamlessly. Yet a month of football, Irish meetings, Press board, Camp Meeting, Mid Year Committees and Treasurers meetings – and  boom bang a month has gone.

No doubt your perception of  time has been similar. During this time I have been working through some material on the idea of a ‘committed enterprise’. Looking at organisations with clear vision and strong values derived from the vision, and the need to continually revise the vision. Real visions often involve heated debate, big ideas, emotion and discomfort.

We have had the opportunity to do just this with regard to our evangelism program and indeed our employment responsibilities. We have had to determine who we are, where we are going, and who we wish to become.

One of the statements I enjoyed came from an unlikely source. The name Estee Lauder is associated with my earliest efforts to woo the love of my life. The company was established by Leonard Lauder whose mother used to test his perfumes with the ladies. It seems that she was a rather tactile old dear, and so the vision statement for the company came to be ‘Bringing the best to everyone we touch’- which as a personal statement, takes some beating.

Don’t imagine that I am about join the ‘laying on of hands’ brigade – but join me in an effort to bring the best to all with whom we are in contact. Thank you for touching lives this month.

Yours truly,

Victor Pilmoor
