What is Your Answer?
I believe that life only asks us one question. Just one. Through every circumstance and trial, every hope and fear, every choice and decision. In all of this we answer just one thing - Who do you love?
It’s easy to get lost in the detail, to miss the fundamental and essential point. In all the “he said”, “she said” and the “I want “ or “ I need”. In all the ‘ they did’ or ‘ stuff happens’. We talk so much, there are so many words and reasons and issues that we can no longer hear or feel or see the one question, the only question. ‘ Who do you love ?’
It comes to us in our choices and our characters. It comes to us in our values and our views. It lurks in our actions. It is answered loudly through everything we say and do. It is unavoidable, honest and crystal clear to all who look and take the time to see.
Who do we love? We cannot hide from it or pretend. There is no neutral position and no convincing lie. All heaven watches, the whole universe sees and many of our friends (and enemies) know the reply. But do we?
Our essential choice, a daily choice, a changeable choice that lies within our control is to say “ You know what? I love Jesus”
Not with long speeches, or off putting insistence. Not with long Bible based debates or wordy prayers. Not even with any conscious show of goodness or indifferent helpful habits. No, not like that at all.
But by acts of kindness and care with courage to stand up for what’s right even when scared. By living in our daily lives, the goodness He shared. In this simple yet meaningful way we say ‘ Yes I know who I love and I choose to live his way!
“And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “how long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal (a false god) follow him”.
