All Those Hypocrites
I’m tired of hypocrites. Aren’t you? They say one thing and do another. They seem to be living one way until the surface is scratched and the truth comes out.
Are they weak or just plain bad? What do you think? I know they annoy me because I spend too much time listening to people who won’t go to church or consider religion because they have seen or experienced hypocrites in the church.
Let’s be frank - there are a lot of hypocrites in the church. Too many, and each one is turning people away by their behaviour. But what I don’t understand is why. Why punish God through your absence for something He hasn’t done?
Why pretend that the church belongs to hypocrites? It doesn’t. It is for believers, however mixed up they may be, and for unbelievers that they may have a place to go where they too can consider God. God has invited everyone to be there after all and it is His church. Basically as an invited guest of His you need to stand your ground and not let anyone push you out.
What are you going to say to God when He comes “I know you wanted me to go but I didn’t bother because in amongst the 200 other people in the church there was 5 hypocrites and I don’t like them” Sounds like a child’s excuse to me. Now that you're reading it - doesn’t it sound that way to you?
He has not asked you to be a hypocrite, he has not asked you to like them nor be their very best friend. They are insignificant compared to what is actually happening. God has asked you to do something and you have refused. That is big…Huge. Looking at it this way, the fact that a church leader may have double standards seems irrelevant. Simply put it is their issue to address with God and not your excuse.
Please don’t be distracted by others from anything that God asks you to do. It really is between you and Him both now and in the end. No one should be important enough to get between you.
Be honest about why you don’t go to church and bring that issue to God in prayer and then weigh up your feelings/reasons against His desire. It is your choice and He is the one who gave you both the freedom and the responsibility that goes with choosing.
As for me? If there are lots of hypocrites in the church then I guess it makes it more important that I am there for God and being faithful - because it is about Him not them.
What’s your decision?
“And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.
