God says you are special (yes you!)

 

Do you know that you are special? And important to God? Do you always feel special? Or do you sometimes feel like you are not important at all?

 

Well Jesus thinks you are, and what’s more he told his disciples (friends) and it is even written in the Bible! This means that people will always know that Jesus thinks you are special. It happened like this….

 

One day Jesus was with his friends and there were some children playing nearby. Sometimes when you’re playing near adults they tell you to be quiet or to go outside or to your mom to play don’t they?. Well Jesus is different. He called one the little children and put them right in the middle of the adults.

 

Do you think the child was scared? Or worried? Do you thing they were wondering what they had done wrong?

 

Jesus looked at the little child and told his friends “ if you don’t learn to stop doing bad things and not be proud like this child you won’t get to go to heaven” Imagine that, all those adults who thought they knew much more than a child were told to be more like one!

 

But Jesus said something else, something to make all the adults worry about how they treated children, he said “ you should treat children well for my sake but if you hurt them or make them so sad they don’t believe in me anymore then it would be better for you if you were thrown in the sea”

 

Jesus thinks that children are very special and should be treated in the same way that people should treat him. With kindness and care – this doesn’t mean your parent shouldn’t tell you off if you do something wrong, otherwise how will we learn to do better. But it does mean that he care about how you are treated.

 

In fact, he said that adults should be careful not to hate any child because they should remember that even though a child is small each child has an angel. What’s more their angel gets to go to heaven all the time to meet God.

 

Do you see how special you are to Jesus? Has had made sure that all adults a can read about how he feels about you and about how you should be treated. And you have an angel to watch over you and make sure God knows how you are.

 

All children are special and just as adults should take care of you and help you and not hurt you, in the same way you should be nice to other children. This means you should not bully them or hurt them but help them too.

 

After all when your angel meets with theirs don’t you want them to both be saying good things about you?
