The Adventures of Noah
Part 1
“Hey Noah! are you going mad or something? What has got into you?” Noah took a deep breath before he answered his best friend. He was so tired of everyone asking him the same questions, he could just hear their mocking laughs. Even the children had made up a chant to tease him
Noah, Noah, what a lark,
Says he gonna build an ark
He slowly turned to his friend, his eyes soft with unshed tears. I know you think I’m crazy but the God told me to build a really big boat, bigger than anything we have ever seen because he is going to send rain to clean the earth because everybody is so bad. Just the other day, they threw babies into the river as a gift to the water god. How bad can things get?. “I know “ his friend interrupted “but there is no such thing as rain, even you don’t know what rain is”. “Noah… maybe, just maybe, you could be sick. You may have picked up a virus when we went on that Eden trip last month because it is only since then that you have started acting so crazy.”
No Joe , I’m not sick I am just doing what God told me to do. Joe shook his head. I’m sorry Noah but if I keep hanging out with you people will think I’m just as crazy too. I’m already losing business as it is. Noah sighed but said, “do what you have to do Joe but please I’m begging you. Come with us when the ark is finished”.. Joe listened, sadly shook his head and left without a word.
Noah wondered if rain would ever come, he had searched many books but still could not find anything. Sometimes he felt so discouraged because he had been telling his friends and neighbours and everyone in the town for the past 120 years while building this huge boat, but all they did was tease him
Crazy Noah.. Silly Noah… Foolish Noah. Even if there was a flood, only a crazy person would build a boat in the middle of a town instead of near a river. That’s all the town people ever said before walking away. As Noah thought about this, he realised that they did not have much time left because God had told him that the flood would come in a weeks time. Noah then decided that he could not waste anytime; he had to warn the people. Maybe this time they would listen to him.

Noah went into the centre of the village and started to preach , but before he said ten words the people started to walk away, they did not want to hear anything from Noah. He was just wasting their time and keeping them away from their parties and wedding where they could drink and have fun. Noah was so sad because he really wanted everyone to be saved when the Flood came, especially his friend Joe, but the people just would not listen.
At dinner that evening, Noah told his family that they had seven days left to enter the ark because on the second day of the month the flood would come. He told them that they could only carry the bare necessities, just a few pieces of clothing, food for themselves and food for the animals. Animals Noah? His wife asked. How are we going to bring the animals with us. Noah smiled, because he knew that that God would sort everything out.
Over the next week, Noah, his wife and their Sons Ham, Shem and Japheth along with their wives got busy preparing for their Boat ride , Noah constantly reminded them that they could only carry the bare necessities as they needed as much space as possible for the animals as well as the villagers in the event they changed their minds.
They all realised that it would take allot of hard work because they had to find out which foods each animal liked, they had to cut the hay for the Donkeys and Giraffes, pick bananas for the monkeys and nuts for the squirrels, the list was endless. Although it was hard work they were excited because they knew that the flood would be coming soon.
One Morning just as Noah was about to have his breakfast before doing the days chores, he suddenly heard a very loud scream from his wife. Noah, Noah! The animals are marching into the boat! .
When Noah looked outside, he saw a long line of animals walking towards the ark. Lions and Tigers, Giraffes and Polar bears, Buffalos and Monkeys, there were so many, too many to count. They even saw animals they had never seen before. They were coming in groups of twos and sevens and what was more amazing was that each animal had its partner. All the animals were walking quietly in a line, even more surprising was that animals such as sheep were walking in front of normally wild animals like the lions. Everyone in the village had come out to watch. Everyone’s mouth opened in shock. This had never happened in their village before. People who had previously teased Noah now looked really scared.
Noah was surprised but God told him that this would happen very near to the time. He also realised that it was the ideal time to tell everyone that the rain was coming and that they need to go into the ark. Noah went into the centre of the crowd and started to tell them that God was going to send water from the sky to destroy the earth. Please he cried, just come into the ark with me and my family, just, look at the animals walking in, you need to come in before its too late. Everyone was quiet for a while until the village doctor a very important man in the community said “Noah you need to take some medications because you are losing your mind and talking foolishness. There is no such thing as rain!”
The crowd started clapping because the doctor was the most educated man in the land so he had to be right. A few people were unsure; they wanted to know if the doctor was right, then why were all the animals marching into the boat? The doctor scratched his head and then said in a very serious voice that the animals have come because Noah has cut down so many trees in the forest to build the boat that they have no where to live. Soon these animals will turn on us all because of Noah and his crazy ideas. The crowd started getting angry so Noah’s Son, Ham hurriedly took his father’s hand to take him away from the crowd before they started to throw stones. Noah was heartbroken, why were the villagers so stubborn, why weren’t they listening to God’s instructions?. Click on The Adventures of Noah, Part 4 To see what happened next
After Preaching to the angry crowd, Noah realised that it was time to go into the ark so at Midday, He and his family carried the final items into the ark. As soon as the town people saw Noah and his family going in, they stopped everything they were doing and started to laugh. Some people laughed until their tummies started to hurt and tears starting falling from their eyes. They found this so funny, Children, Parents, Grandparents. Everybody was laughing.
Suddenly in the midst of the laughter the door closed with a heavy thud. Everyone became silent because they knew that Noah could not close the door himself. It would take at least 200 men to close the door. Nevertheless, they soon forgot about it and started laughing again. But that did not last long because they felt something they had never felt before, Can you guess what that was?. Well they felt drops of water, which seemed to come from the sky. They could not believe it. They suddenly realised that Noah was right all along.
They started pounding on the door. They were so frightened but they were too late. Noah could hear the terrified screams of the children and their parents. Everyone now wanted to come into the ark but because they did not listen they all died.
The rain fell constantly for 40 days and nights but even though it had stopped, there was no dry land at all because the entire world was covered with water. When Noah and his family looked out, all they could see was water for miles and miles, there was no sign of life anywhere. They had been floating on the water for 150 days.
Noah and his family wondered if there was dry land anywhere so they decided to send out a raven to see what she would bring back but they raven could not find anywhere to place her feet so she came back with nothing. They waited a few days and then they sent out a dove because maybe this time she would bring back something. The dove came back but this time she came with an olive leaf in her beak. Everyone was so happy because it meant that there was dry land. They got out of the boat and Noah made a sacrifice to God.
God then gave them a lovely present, which we sometimes see when the rain has finished falling, Can you guess what the present was. Well it was a Beautiful Rainbow and it had all the colours we have today if not more, red, indigo, yellow, blue and orange. God gave it to them to remind that that he would never again send rain to destroy the earth but instead it would be fire and so ends the amazing adventures of Noah and his Family.
