Sanita's Big Day

Sanita was excited, so excited that she could barely sit still. Her first  Piano recital was coming up in a day’s time and she, along with other  students, would be performing for a very large crowd of parents and friends. The recital would be held in the largest concert hall in the country and all the famous musicians would be there, so everyone was looking forward to it.

Sanita knew that she had to go to bed early in order to play her best, but she was much too happy to sleep. At least that’s what she thought. Eventually as little girls do, she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillows.

The next morning, Sanita hurriedly ate her breakfast, got dressed in the nice little blue dress her mother had bought for the occasion and jumped into the car. She was ready for the greatest adventure of her

life.

As soon as she entered the concert hall ,she saw hundreds of people sitting in the balcony. She saw the baby Grand Piano that everyone in the recital would play, she saw the seats for the orchestra, everything looked so grand but something strange started to happen. Sanita started to feel a bit strange. The smile left her face

and her little heart started beating very fast and her hands started sweating. What do you think was happening? Well Sanita started feeling very scared and nervous, she started thinking, “what if I make a mistake?” “what if I forget my notes or even worse what if they don’t like my music? Sanita was almost in tears, O dear she thought I really don’t know if I want to play in front of all these people anymore. As a single large tear rolled down her cheeks she suddenly remembered something she had learned in Sabbath School.

Her teacher had told her that if she ever felt really scared, she could close her eyes and ask Jesus to help her, and that’s exactly what Sanita did. She closed her eyes and said a very quick prayer. This is

what she said “ Dear Jesus, please help me not to be so scared or nervous on the stage. Amen.

As soon as she said the prayer she felt so much better and can you guess what happened. Well when it was Sanita’s turn at the piano she felt so calm and relaxed because all the nervousness had gone. You can do the same thing too, Whenever you feel alone, or scared or worried, just ask Jesus to help you and to be with you. Remember he always likes to hear from children.
