Easter Poem
1.
Judas had a greedy and mutinous heart
When it came to money he played a major part
So when the chief priests offered him money
After the betrayal he would certainly be a happy bunny
2.
Jesus was looking for a place to eat His Last Supper
So He sent His disciples to get the place that was on offer
Once they had all gathered in the upper room
Jesus said that one would lead Him to His doom
3.
Once the disciples had all had their fill
And Jesus had explained the covenant He had to fulfil
Jesus said “Myself, Peter will deny,”
Peter said “never!” “For You I am willing to die”
4.
At the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus said, “here I would like you to stay”
“I’m going ahead alone to pray”
“Peter, James and John come with me”
“Stay here and pray for me you three”
5.
When he finished he returned to where the three were staying
The three were there but they were certainly not praying
They were sleeping very peacefully on the lush green grass
They had certainly not stuck to their very important task
6.
This happened three times, sleeping when they had to pray
Finally Jesus said get up for my betrayer is coming this way
After Judas’s fatal kiss armed men started to appear
Peter drew his sword and sliced off Malchus’s ear
7.
Suddenly the disciples turned on their heels and fled
They really didn’t want to be left dead
After this Jesus was brought before the Sanhedrin
All this for a good thorough session of questioning
8.
Peter was outside warming himself by the fire
When asked if he knew Jesus, you could call him a liar
He denied Jesus three times trying to keep accusers at bay
But when the rooster crowed a second time, he did not know what to say
9.
After the Sanhedrin had proven Him guilty, He was brought before Pilate
He found nothing wrong but if he disagreed with the people he could cause a major riot
Jesus was condemned and Barabas was set free
This was when the justice system was at its lowest as you can see
10.
After a while the whipping began to sting
To add to this He would be nailed to a cross shaped thing
At the age of thirty-three Jesus was crucified
At the age of thirty-three Jesus died
11.
The point of all this did not just sift through a sieve
He died so that you and I may live
He completed his purpose in full
He covered all of us with his blood and for this we must be eternally thankful
