My Smile
My best feature is my smile. But it takes a while,
Usually frowning, seriously sad, sometimes even mad,
The smile is the furthest of all, it doesn’t answer any casual call
The best in me is locked up, buried deep. It’s the life I’ve had
But when I learned to look at Jesus instead of at me
My life, my troubles began to seem so paltry
My smile returned, and happy laughter too
What he’d done for me, he can do for you
Hearts sing at his touch, no trouble or worry is too much
Perspective returns, happy moments twinkle through my days
I have chosen to sit in God’s glorious rays
Troubles still come, sad times too but they run when I pray them through
Yes it works, no it’s not a myth – try it you’ll like it you’ll see
A God who changes all wiling misfits and miseries into the happy
Happy to serve, happy to pray, happy to give my life away
to the one who brought my smile and taught me how to pray
Try it and see
