




No meat burgers
Ingredients
200g cooked garden peas crushed (you can use kidney or haricot beans if
preferred)
50g breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon wheat germ or sesame seeds (optional)
I medium onion finely chopped
¼ of a sweet pepper finely chopped
¼ teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove fresh garlic crushed
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon marmite dissolved in 2 tablespoons of warm water
1 medium carrot finely grated
1 beaten egg (or a little Soya milk and flour if preferred) to bind the mixture
Method
Mix all of the ingredients together in a big bowl. Dust your hands with flour
and shape the mixture into burger shapes. Fry on each side until golden
brown and cooked through. If you like dark burgers add a little gravy
browning to the mixture.
If you find the mixture too wet or breaking apart add a little plain flour to bind
it. Try tasting the first one and adjust the seasoning to your taste before cooking the rest. For a stronger burger taste add more marmite and wheat germ.
Should be served dry. Makes about 10 burgers.
