




Marsena’s Delicious Dall (serves 2)
A tasty yet cheap accompaniment to rice—great for sharing.
Ingredients
8oz of yellow split peas
3 tsp of curry powder
½ tsp of mixed ground cumin or grams masala
1 red onion
1 brown onion
4 cloves of garlic crushed
½ oz of ginger
2 tbsp of oil
Salt to taste
1 tsp of coriander leaves
Method
Boil the split peas as directed on the packet. Drain and put to one side. Fry the onions, the garlic and curry powder until it forms a paste and then add the ginger and water until you get the consistency of gravy. Add the drained peas and let it simmer in the sauce for 15-20 minutes ensuring it doesn’t dry out – add more water if needed. Add the coriander at the end, stir in and serve.
